Our Approach to Sustainability

Through our Environment, Social, and Governance (ESG) and Sustainability Strategy we endeavour to play our part in making our country and the world a more resilient and sustainable place for posterity. DPC has embedded sustainability across its business activities. We consider ESG factors in our business model, budgeting, investments, stakeholder engagements, employee welfare and all our operations. We see to it that sustainability is adequately reflected in our Fund growth and Target Fund attainment drive by keeping a close eye on the performance of our investment portfolios to make them more resilient.

Environment

At DPC, we look at sustainability as more than merely a means to reduce negative externalities on the environment in a bid to maximize operational efficiency and optimize resources. We look at it as an important opportunity to be kind to the environment, be impact-driven in the locations in which we operate and be exemplary neighbours wherever we are situated. This is targeted at creating long term value for the environment and the citizens of Zimbabwe.

Social

At DPC, we recognise the importance of regular impactful engagement, nurturing of strong relationships, and active involvement in the community. We are keenly aware that although we have a statutory mandate, more importantly, we further require a delicate ‘social licence’ to operate that can only be granted by the people of Zimbabwe. The long-term success of our mandate relies on the citizens knowing about our mandate and its importance. DPC has therefore crafted strategies to foster two-way constructive communication, confidence building, financial inclusion, as well as a supportive, open, and cordial relationship with the people of Zimbabwe including its internal customers.

Governance

The DPC Board has a robust plan to ensure that we act responsibly and transparently across all operations in our business relationships and value chain. We believe that it is the role of the Board of Directors to drive the sustainability agenda for the Corporation so that we can meaningfully contribute to economic stability, financial inclusion, preservation of the environment and the upliftment of lives of the people of Zimbabwe.
